A high-profile UK faith-based charity going through significant global transformation and facing sustained regulatory pressures: We
Led, coordinated and ultimately “fronted” the work needed to address the Charity Commission’s statutory inspection plan over a period of 2 years. We did this using our Rapid Assessment to “take stock” of the work needed and then proceeded to advise and assure Trustees and management with changes in systems, governance and risk management
Carried out fraud investigations into overseas operations in Somalia and Sudan that led to enhancement in the global control framework
Advised on the robustness of policies and procedure and their implementation
Devised bespoke control frameworks, including a proprietary Programme Risk Assurance framework that strengthened the second line of defence activities
Provided ongoing critical friend advice and support to the Chief Executive and senior management over multiple area of strategy and operations, including ways of working and best practices
Delivered training on areas such as counter fraud and risk management
Overall, helped the Board to steer the organisation away from regulatory distress, in the process contributing to the transformation of arrangements and systems and leading to a marked enhancement in organisational reputation (that in turn resulted in increased donations and institutional funding).
